Wine
Social currency came about unexpectedly. We set out to create a wine that would command attention, so that when opened it would register celebration and demanded sharing. We wanted to craft a wine that balanced luxurious texture, powerful fruit and an ethereal elegance. We began by looking at combinations of our best vineyard lots. As we narrowed our selections we made the chance combination of a hillside Cabernet vineyard on Mt. Veeder with Cabernet from an alluvial fan on the valley floor of St. Helena. As we tasted the resulting blend, we looked at one another and without any words knew we had found a treasure. A combination of hedonism and sophistication that will be the centerpiece for building lifelong memories.
In magnum, the theory is that we bring one another together – and right there and then, we create the moment. Those are the real currencies in life. The vault of wealth will be full of the memories we accumulate and celebrate.
2014 Social Currency
Cabernet Sauvignon
The Social Currency strikes an incredible balance between luxury and power. Opulent, sophisticated, plush and dense with complex and powerful tiers of flavor. Intoxicating aromas range across mocha, cocoa, coffee, mineral and deep dark cherry notes. Silky but also incredibly concentrated on the palate showing layered, complex and totally compelling plum, strawberry compote, chocolate and coffee finishing with refined mineral and fruit notes. Serious but totally sensuous. Dense, powerful and plush finish that lingers on and on. This is seductive now but will only gain nuance and complexity with time in the cellar.

2013 Social Currency
Cabernet Sauvignon
Intoxicating aromas of violet and fresh lavender set the tone for what is to come. Explosive blackberry and espresso aromas follow and transfer to the pallet effortlessly. There is a maple bacon component to this wine I’ve never experienced before and it’s as unique as it is amazing. The texture of the wine never ceases to amaze and much like the Dakota Shy Wines, the tannins are lush, polished, and lingering for minutes after the first sip. We like to call it the “cashmere effect” and it’s sure to not disappoint.
